Karen L. Stevens
KAREN L. STEVENS, Associate, was admitted to California State Bar in 1983. She graduated cum laude from California State University Long Beach where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature, and received a Master of Science degree in Library Science from San Jose State University. Ms. Stevens received her law degree from University of California Los Angeles in 1983. She is a member of the California State Bar and the Workers' Compensation section of the California Lawyers Association. She is licensed to practice law in the State of California and all federal district courts. Her spouse is Judge David Brotman of the WCAB in Van Nuys. Ms. Stevens began her practice in Workers' Compensation law as an Applicant's Attorney, followed by 27 years as a Defense Attorney representing self-insured employers, insurance companies and third party administrators in all aspects of Workers' Compensation law, including 132a and Serious and Willful cases. While representing Zurich North America for fifteen years, Ms. Stevens achieved the title of Chief Trial Attorney, which included management of all staff attorneys, provision of multiple training seminars to employers and claims adjusters, and membership of the National Workers' Compensation Committee. Combined with her additional experience with private defense firms, Ms. Stevens has extensive experience in defending against all issues involving Workers' Compensation law before the Workers' Compensation Appeals Boards.
